About Taste of China

Valdosta, Georgia, may not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking about Chinese cuisine. However, it harbors a delightful surprise. Nestled quite discreetly among the bustling shops on Bemiss Road stands Taste of China—a humble yet authentic haven for those craving the rich depth of traditional Chinese flavors. Finding it is easy enough, and what's discovered inside makes the journey ever so worthwhile.

One enters Taste of China with high hopes for delicious meals, certainly not defeated. This charming eatery might be modest in its facade, yet the menu is anything but plain. Offering an array of classic Chinese dishes, it caters to both adventurous eaters and those who prefer the comfort of familiar flavors. Begin with the delectable potstickers or the hot and sour soup, which, as frequently noted by previous diners, can be described as a hug in a bowl.

The menu's section featuring mains is a fitting tribute to culinary craftsmanship. Try the Kung Pao Chicken for a spicy kick, or savor the gentle aromas of Beef Chow Fun. Each dish brings forth a tidal wave of flavors, crafted with care and just the right amount of zest. For those opting for seafood, the Honey Walnut Shrimp does not disappoint—it’s crunchy and sweet, yet savory enough to keep the taste buds on their toes.

Taste of China’s reputation builds upon the consistent approval of its patrons. Many reviews passionately recount the authenticity and quality of the meals, often mentioning that the generous portions serve as another pleasant surprise. The friendly staff, attentive without hovering, add to the overall inviting atmosphere of this cozy restaurant.

Typically not bustling with excess chatter, the restaurant’s quiet charm invites guests to fully immerse themselves in their dining experience. Regulars often gather here, not just for a meal, but for a slice of nostalgia, a reminder of distant times shared over a simple but beautifully cooked dish.

While 'Taste of China' may sound like an advertisement, it's a promise well kept, especially when accompanied by a Jasmine tea to complete the experience. On any given day, Taste of China is more than just a stop for a meal; it’s a destination worth the detour, providing an authentic taste journey that extends beyond its humble exterior. So, next time in Valdosta, make it a point to savor these slices from the East, served right at Bemiss Road.

I go every Friday with my dad, and the little Chinese lady that works behind the counter is my best friend. I believe her name is Mrs Mei (think that’s how it’s spelled) and the highlight of my week is driving fifteen minutes to stand there for two minutes and say hi to her. She always seems so happy to see us, and recently I even bought her a snickers bar. The next week I came back, she had a whole stand of bracelets and said “I got this for you!” Anyway, food is amazing. The service is amazing, and prices are not bad. Great restaurant.

Holly Molly! By far the greatest place to get Chinese food. They were fast and Curtis and the food came out fresh and with so much flavor. The bourbon chicken was so dang good. The fried rice was seasoned and not bland at all. Close to town with easy in and out parking lot. Right off bemiss makes it an easy stop for dinner.

The black pepper chicken was so good! As well as the vegetable lo mein. Food was hot and fresh! Despite some of the other comments I saw, the place looked super clean, and the staff was extremely friendly.

Usually they do a standard good job. It's chinese takeaway so I don't expect incredible high end food. Out of 20+ orders over the years only had the rice be hard once, other than that no other issues so pretty good.

Our favorite little Chinese Restaurant here in town! They make the best Singapore Mei Fun here in Valdosta and my husband loves their Beef and Broccoli and Shrimp rolls.
